The Middle East is an area where automobile is king and fuel is inexpensive, often leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly ways of walking around.
But this year, as protests across the Middle East have actually pressed up the cost of oil, the issue of discovering alternative sources of fuel has entered sharp focus.
In an area that has among the highest carbon footprints on the planet, one organization is making the most of the growing pressure to find options to oil. It's established the Middle East's first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving lucrative too, already their client-list includes McDonald's.
